GOLD CUP FINAL FOUR SET: MONEY LINES AND PICKS

And then there were four. The Gold Cup rolled along this weekend leaving us with our four semifinalists. Mexico and the USA will be joined by Canada and guest squad Qatar.

On Saturday, Mexico cruised to a victory over Honduras and Qatar was able to cut a late El Salvador rally short. While on Sunday, the USA needed a late goal from Matheew Hoppe, and Canada used an early goal to control Costa Rica, to give us our Final Four matchups. 

Qatar will be taking on the USA in the first match on Thursday, and Mexico will face off against Canada after. Now, what do the Money Lines say about the upcoming matchups?

DraftKings has Qatar@+330 as underdogs against the USA @-110 and the draw @+245. They also have Mexico@-190 as favorites over Canada@+575 and the draw@+320. Now, this sets up some interesting scenarios when it comes to our wagers this week. 

If you go with the safe play and parlay the favorites, Mexico and the US, your money line jumps to @+191 and the payout on a $100 wager would be $291.38. Not too shabby. 

But, when you go with an underdog, things can get interesting. Say you parlay Mexico and take Qatar for the upset. The money line jumps to @+556 and the payout would be $656.31.

We all know how Concacaf works and let’s say you think both games will go to overtime or PK’s. Parlaying both games to end in draws gives you a total money lint of @+1349 and the payout on a $100 would be $1449.00.

MY PICKS

While I think Qatar’s attacking style of play feeds into the US’s strengths, I’m still going for a 90 minute draw@+245 for the first matchup. Mexico looked like itself for the first time this tournament in the first half of their match against Honduras, I expect them to build on that on their way to the final. Give me El Tri @-190. This puts my parlay’s money line @+426. With our $100 wager, I’m looking at a payout of 526.57.
